The Big Green Gathering, held nr Cheddar, Somerset is back for 2009 with all the old favourites plus some exciting new initiatives. Whether you want to see a favourite band, learn how to make a rag rug, be pampered in the healing field, this fun event has a serious message about our environment and showcases sustainable lifestyles. Penny Kemp, Director of the Big Green Gathering said, “It’s the ultimate low carbon holiday. We are able to show people how they can reduce their carbon footprint in a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. We are also in discussion with the Eden Project and plans are afoot to have an Eden area in 2009.”

This five day extravaganza is divided into several themed zones, each contributing to a vision of sustainable living, combined with some of best entertainment in the country, whatever your taste from alternative theatre to carnival and eastern folk. If your dream is to build a new house, the sustainable homes area has the expertise and if gardening is your thing, the Permaculture area offers workshops and talks.

The Big Green Gathering has a GAMA (green access and mobility area) field ensuring that all members of society have equal access to the festival.
The Big Green Gathering Forum is a debating tent, where festival goers can engage with environmental experts on issues of the day. The highlight is the Big Green Gathering Question Time, which has featured among others, former Environment Minister, Michael Meacher, Tony Juniper, Executive Director of Friends of the Earth, Caroline Lucas MEP, BBC’s Ethical Man, Justin Rowlatt and It’s Not Easy Being Green’s, Brigit Strawbridge.

We look forward to seeing you for the best Big Green Gathering yet!
